Mapping of Competencies in EU

The main objective of this mapping of competencies database developed by IDIADA within EVPSN2 was to generate a database with all the organisations involved in the field of passive safety within the European Union.

The database aims at providing an up-to-date overview of all relevant organisations of importance for RTD and technology uptake in the field of passive safety for:

• Dissemination related activities,
• Connecting individual industrial companies or networks of companies to the most appropriate research facility, in effect facilitating research brokerage,
• Facilitating consortium building (in the event of new RTD initiatives) and collaboration / information exchange between researchers across Europe.

At first, a questionnaire was sent around. Its aim was to allow the database’s developers to have an initial overview of all the products, services and researches that can be included in the final database. The final fields that form the database structure were selected from fields defined in this questionnaire as well as from the responses gathered thanks to the questionnaire’s answers. Unfortunately, the answer to this questionnaire was not very large, so at the time being, the database has been built and will nowbe further filled within APSN.
