UG3 Heavy Vehicles

The User group 3 is led by IKA and co-led by TU Berlin. Its first activity is the coordination of a contact database for research activities and organisations and the promotion of an exchange of expertise. The database has to consider all activities and organisations in Europe. It has to be flexible and open for new entries, so that it stays up-to-date.

After the compilation of the database, workshops will be organised and task forces created to bring together the heavy vehicle research community. In this workshops within the task forces, which consider all partners that contribute to the database, the user needs and technology requirements will be identified and the needs and requirements will be listed.

The results of the workshops will be processed and consolidated in a report that integrates all task forces. This will be the basis for integrated research programmes.

Example: One programme that can be defined in advance is the transfer and adaptation of design methodologies (simulation and testing) from automotive safety area to heavy vehicle area and vice versa.Therefore the relevant methodologies in each area will be listed and the state-of-the-art will be acquired. Out of this the synergy potential will be worked out. Other common research programmes will consider the exploitation of synergy effects between infrastructure research and passive safety of heavy vehicles.
