Grupo Antolin

Grupo Antolin is a leading multinational company in the design, development and manufacture of components and modular systems for vehicle interiors for the automotive industry, with three main areas: Overhead System, Door Function and Seat Function.
Innovation has been part of the corporate culture from the beginning, is the formula for integrating functionality, design, comfort and safety. Grupo Antolin has unstintingly invested research efforts towards guaranteeing greater safety in vehicles. The knowledge that Grupo Antolin has acquired in the development of the American FMVSS 201 standard and the experience it has gained in collaborating with technological centres in the development of solutions are being transferred to the European clients in view of the imminent implementation of the standard in Europe. This collaboration transcends the parameters of Grupo Antolin’s own products to encompass everything relating to the vehicle, fundamentally the bodywork, and involves developing our own products such as MOSAIC (protection against head impact).

LMS
LMS has a large expertise in various fields of virtual prototyping in the automotive and aerospace sectors. LMS has developed an integrated software platform (LMS Virtual.Lab) for the functional performance engineering and optimisation of critical design attributes in mechanical product development, such as noise and vibration, dynamics, comfort, durability and others. LMS Virtual.Lab offers an open environment with seamless links to the CAD, CAE and Test worlds.
Of particular importance is the reduction of the overall time, effort and cost to come to a full virtual modelling of complete vehicles across the boundaries of different applications. This involves coordination with other Virtual Testing applications, such as crash and occupant safety simulation, investigation of new CAE model building/assembly methods that allow single system models to be built up that can be adapted / trimmed / but not redone for the different engineering attributes, provision of an upfront engineering capability in which CAE model morphing plays an important role, global multi-attribute optimisation etc. Breaking through the borders of individual design criteria will be essential for streamlining the future vehicle design process with a much greater influence from engineering in the overall process.

University of Technology Graz
Target one is the development of software for the reconstruction of vehicle accidents. (PC-Crash and PC-Rect) and they allow to simulate all kinds of accidents including rollovers and to calculate the forces on the involved passengers. In addition, the Institute has gained significant experience in numerical simulations of occupant kinematics and kinetics for several years by using MADYMO and PAM-Crash. The second main research target within the Institute is the biomechanical research. The main interest within this type of research is focused on seat and restraint system development to reduce the injury risk of vehicle occupants. Several studies have been published to show the importance of well developed restraint systems (e.g. regarding rear end impacts). These studies have been performed by running sled tests with human subjects and dummies. From these test series, the Institute gained knowledge about some weak points of current restraint systems and seat constructions.

University of West Bohemia

The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is the only institution of higher education in this part of the country which prepares students for career in engineering (electrical and mechanical), science (computer science, applied mathematics, physics, mechanics), education (for both primary and secondary school teachers in a wide range of subjects), fine arts, economics, humanities (philosophy, sociology, foreign languages, social and cultural anthropology, archaeology), law and public administration.

New Technologies - Research Centre in the Westbohemian Region was founded under the research and development program of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic as a centre of applied research on July 3, 2000. The key competencies of the centre are testing and prediction of material properties during the process of exploitation and the research focused on development of algorithms for designing the composites strongly
resistant to shock loads, simulation of the component behavior under extreme loading conditions and computer model of a human body for industrial applications including inner organs.

University of Zilina

The University of Zilina is a modern university providing a full range of technological, economic, management, and a limited range of humanistic and natural science education at under-graduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. During its existence the University has become a reputable institution within the university educational system of the Slovak Republic.

The focus of the University research capacity lies mainly in participation in research projects and scientific technological projects. Research activities take place within grant-aided projects, institutional research, unspecified research and international projects. They are concentrated in departments of a respective faculty or in the institutes; some research teams are involved in inter-faculty or multi-departmental cooperation with a clearly defined field of priority in research and technology. Nowadays, virtual units of research are being taken into consideration. One of the main aims of research is to develop practical applications designed for industries and business in Slovakia.
